Take A Ride With DJ Spinna

Posted by Michelle Cavanaugh - Filed under: General underground, R&B/Soul underground acts, Rap/Hip-hop underground acts - (Sunday September 3, 2006 at 2:51 am)

While DJ Spinna, known in Brooklyn as “Vince” Williams, has worked with some of the most popular artists to date, he has chosen to market himself through the DIY (do-it-yourself) approach. Traveling around the world, greeting faithful fans in Japan, Australia, and South Africa, Spinna has taken DJ-ing to a whole new level.

Beginning in New York City, DJ Spinna became a name affiliated with legendary emcee’s such as Mos Def, Talib Kweli, and Pharaohe Monch. Soon after tapping into the underground scene, he began collaborating with Masta Ace, Guru, Brand Nubian, Sadat X, and De La Soul (”Stakes Is High”).

Spinna has always been open-minded to working alongside musicians of all genres (i.e. George Michael, Mary J. Blige, Michael Jackson, and the Jungle Brothers). Mixing beats from Roy Ayers to Betty Carter, Mr. Williams keeps the creative juices flowing through his diverse taste of music.

While slowly becoming famous in the mainstream, DJ Spinna hopes to shine light on struggling artists. With Intergalactic Soul, he experiments with mixing his classic hip-hop style over dance beats. With up and coming artists N’Dea Davenport, Free Radicalz, Stephanie McKay, and Eric Roberson singing over DJ Spinna’s new flavor, it’s truly something to watch bloom.
