Artist Spotlight: Seven

Posted by EastWest - Filed under: General underground, Rap/Hip-hop underground acts - (Tuesday September 12, 2006 at 5:52 pm)

SevenNew York emcee, Seven, is bringing the truth back to hip-hop music with his recent release Dirt 2 Diamonds. Backed by a band, the rapper who grew up on old school flavor, brings just that. Plus a little more.

His love of music separates him from the majority of rappers out there satisfied with rhyming over canned beats.

“Live music has such a great vibe and I wanted that to carry over onto the album. The live energy can really be heard. And it also allows me to project myself. Live music is the heartbeat… no heartbeat, no life.”

Seven has also separated himself from the masses of so-called rappers who just want to get paid by the music industry. Tracks such as “Hip Hop (Sticky Icky),” and the excellent “Fat Laces” are the marks of a thoughtful, skilled artist immersed in his craft and the love of music.

“Sometimes I really struggle to say what’s in me… but that keeps me going in a way… it keeps me fueled. And I wouldn’t let a track pass me by,” Seven added. “It’s great to have some direction now, too. That means a lot. That love and passion keeps me happy and satisfied.”

Keep an eye out for this artist, and support his album!
