This week’s featured indie artist is Ise Lyfe, and, as our reviewer Kristofer Upjohn put it, the 23 year-old Bay Area phenom is a “spoken word artist as well as a hip-hop artist.” He goes on to give Lyfe’s hard-to-find CD four stars.

Lyfe grew up inspired by the work of Langston Hughes, but unfortunately fell into the street life. It took a serious wake-up call, witnessing a murder, to bring him back to his craft.

“I realized that I had become numb to the violence and had somehow accepted the idea of dying young. I never wanted to be that way.”
