I would advice them to be "silent" partners, or have a person front the company that reputable in the fashion industry, let the line build it equity, THEN introduce themselves as founders of the clothing line. The apparel product would have by that time made a strong following in the industry, and is not so dependent on the "hottness" of the celeb's status.
