This week sees us offering Chrome Children 2, a compilation featuring various underground and indie artists such as Madlib, MED, Roc C and more.

This 2007 Stones Throw release is the follow-up to the first installment which was also a collaboration with Adult Swim. These 16 tracks hit genres ranging from “hip-hop to funky soul to electro-new wave and even jazz.”

This week sees us offering a free CD from soulful singer-songwriter Raul Midon.

Raul Midon is frequently compared to Stevie Wonder for a few reasons: he’s visually impaired, his music is driven by a soulful social consciousness and his compositions are stronger than Teflon. His music is a combination of classic soul, Latin syncopation and other genres. This sophomore album, A World Within A World, dropped September of 2007 on Manhattan Records.

This week we have Life After Death: The Movie – Ten Years Later. Starring Lil’ Kim, Diddy, Notorious B.I.G. and D-Roc.

This DVD was released in July of 2007 – a little more than ten years after the murder of Notorious B.I.G. The film chronicles the careers and lives of the people he worked with (Lil’ Kim, Junior Mafia and their manager D-Roc) and follows them from 1997-2007; right up to the Hot 97 shootout that led to Lil’ Kim going to prison.

The film is narrated by Jamie Hector of The Wire and includes actual footage of the Hot 97 shootout. D-Roc put it out on his RocDarling Films.
