Rap and R&B News Rap-Up: Ray J, Lil Wayne, Usher

Ray J Busted With Drugs – Brandy’s little brother is certainly getting grown. The R&B singer was busted with drugs at a local Washington D.C. hotel The Hyatt Regency. He was busted with marijuana, and a drug called “Boat” which is D.C. slang for PCP.

50 Cent and P. Diddy get Reality ShowsMTV has given the two of the biggest icons in Hip-Hop reality shows, slated for summer and fall releases. While 50′s show is still untitled, it will focus on business skills. Diddy, already famous on MTV for his “Making The Band’ series will be revamping it for the Rock n Roll audience. Stay tuned.

Lil Wayne Sued – Do you know that song, “I Feel Like Dying” from Lil Weezy? Well apparently, he hasn’t paid Karma Ann Swanepoel for her sample. Stolen from a song of hers called “Once,” the folk singer wants what’s due to her.

Usher at #1 on Billboards next week – With a new album called “Here I Stand,” the King of R&B is looking to stand at #1 on the Billboard charts next week. With estimated first-day sales to be around 146,000, it looks like Ush is back on the throne.

R. Kelly BACK against the Wall – It seems that the infamous mole on R. Kelly’s back that has separated him as NOT the guy on the sex tape, has been found on the same exact spot as, the guy on the sex tape. A forensics expert made the claim, while the defense claims that it’s not on the same, exact spot as the Pied Piper. We’ll see how this turns out.

Busta Rhymes Bodyguard Killed Queens – Another one of Busta Rhymes’ bodyguards has been killed in Queens, Jermaine Williams. He was found in the backseat of his SUV with several gunshot wounds. Busta is currently on tour overseas.

New R&B Releases: Usher – Here I Stand

Four years after his highly successful as well as controversial album, Confessions, the King of R&B is back to take the throne. Promising for a more grown-up and mature feel, this latest project will feature production from Polow Da Don, Jermaine Dupri, The Dream, Dre & Vidal and a host of other all-stars. The God MC Jay-Z and wifey Beyonce make guest appearances on the album, as well as Young Jeezy on the single, “Love In This Club.”

Nas changes title of next album – Looks like Nas and the people at Def Jam are having a change of heart, as the Queens MC has opted for the title of just Nas instead of the much more controversial title N****r for his next album. Slated for a July 1st release, this will be Nas’ ninth studio album, and probably his most anticipated since Illmatic. Too bad the name didn’t stick.

50 Cent Blasts 106 & Parks Rosci on DC Radio -A war of words has ensued between the G-Unit leader and the 106 & Park Co-Host. 50 Cent is reportedly “garbage” in Rosci’s eyes, so 50 took it upon himself to air her out on Radio, saying the outburst were because she hadn’t slept with him like she wanted. He also reportedly knows 4 people that she has slept with. Hmmm

MTV’s Top 10 Hottest MC’s In The Game ListMTV revealed their list of the Hottest MC’s this week, with the #1 going to Mr. West; Kanye wouldn’t have it any other way. 50 Cent, Jay-Z and Rick Ross and Lil Wayne also make the list, in their respective slots.

R. Kelly trial continues – The first days of R. Kelly‘s trial took place this week. With some interesting testimony’s from witnesses, including R&B singer Sparkle. The movie Little Man has been mentioned, and interesting facts about Kelly have been revealed. Wow.

A follow-up to his debut album, Trill in 2005, this one proves to be worth the wait. With all-star guest like Lil Wayne, Lupe Fiasco, Young Buck, Rick Ross, 8 Ball and MJG, and a sleuth of others, Bun-B brings the Texas-twang Trillness that only he can. Remy Ma sentenced to 8 years in prison – 26 year old Remy Smith, aka Remy Ma was sentenced to 8 years in prison for assault, weapon possession and attempted coercion. This is after an incident last year where she allegedly shot her friend in a money dispute outside of a nightclub.

Suge Knight gets K.O’ed – One for the history books, Monday night Suge Knight got into a fight outside of a Hollywood nightclub where he was reportedly knocked out cold for three minutes! Who would’ve thought…
