Beyonce, Hudson Win Big At BET Awards

Beyonce and Jennifer Hudson were the big winners last night (Tuesday) at the BET Awards. The “Dreamgirls” co-stars each took home two awards.

Beyonce was named best female R&B artist and won for video of the year for “Irreplaceable,” while Hudson won best new artist and best female actress.

The awards, which took place at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, also saw Ne-Yo cop the award for best male R&B artist. Gnarls Barkley won for best group and T.I. won for the second year in a row for best hip-hop artist.

The “BET J Cool Like That” award went to the late Gerald Levert, who died in November.

Diana Ross received a Lifetime Achievement Award and James Brown as well as Levert received a musical tribute which included the likes of Bootsy Collins, Public Enemy (Chuck D, Flavor Flav, Prof. Griffin and DJ Lord), Gladys Knight and Yolanda Adams.

Other awards included best song collaboration was “Runaway Love,” by Ludacris featuring Mary J. Blige.
