DJ Drama and DJ Cannon are the subjects of an excellent feature in Atlanta’s Constitution Journal where they talk about their arrest back in January for selling mixtapes.

Georgia’s Racketeering Influenced and Corrupt Organizations law busted the pair citing “an organized, concerted effort to reproduce and distribute [copyrighted material] on a continuous basis.”

The arrests came as a shock to the majority of the music industry.

“My lawyers are in constant conversation with the RIAA [Recording Industry Association of America] and the [district attorney],” said Drama. “They’re definitely feeling a good resolution can happen.”

Lupe Fiasco recently announced plans to begin recording his sophomore album, “The Cool.” With an estimated Oct. 15th release date, the set will follow up his acclaimed 2006 debut Lupe Fiasco’s Food & Liquor, which garnered 3 Grammy noms.

The Chicago emcee performed at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival over the weekend, and is scheduled to perform at Lollapalooza in his hometown in early August.
