Prince: You’ve Come A Long Way, Baby
by admin ·
Anyone old enough to remember the stir caused by Prince’s early music can appreciate how far he has come.
Back in the 80s, the Purple One sported nothing but a thong, trenchcoat and high-heeled boots while yelping sexually explicit songs such as “Head” and “My Sister” (a song about incest).
Now in the new millennium, Prince has transformed into another sort of entertainer, exciting, but clean enough for the paranoid post nipple-gate programming that is Superbowl half-time.
The living legend will take the stage for 12 minutes of…. who knows, with Prince it can be almost anything.
Born-again Christian and Las Vegas strip staple, Prince may be a lot more family friendly but he’s hasn’t toned down his performance energy. If anything, as any true fan will tell you, he’s better than ever. Check him out at half-time and tell us what you think of the show.

He’s the best half-time performer I can remember seeing at the SB. Watching The “Stones” last year was pretty uncomfortable viewing…way past it & purely by the numbers. Prince included enough guitar to keep the average Football Meathead engaged. Fantastic to see him re-establish himself as a top-notch performer in front of a global audience. Tickets to his Fri & Sat nite shows in Vegas will now be precious indeed.

Prince was excellent in adverse conditions. I have two questions; what material was that suite made of and what hair cream did he use in that down pour? I kept expecting one of the dancers to go sliding by in their three inch heals. The lady in white seemed to be streaking by teethering on her heals. It was a great performance! Bring on more funk to the Superbowl!!!!!

That was amazing! by far the best halftime show ever. Berst was when he covered Foo Fighters. he’s truly the king of funk now that James Brown is dead. Long live the Purple Prince!

He rocked it with a doo rag. that’s raw

ok what I meant to say is he’s raw. Not many can rock the stage the way he did so I forgot he was wearing a doo rag.

great set

That really was an amazing performance by an amazing performer. I can barely believe how he managed to completely nail his entire set in that torrential rain. Besides Prince’s own songs, I particularly enjoyed his cover of Hendrix’s version of All Along the Watchtower.

Dynamic… His show was full.. including the marching band that fit to make it something remarkable.. His fireworks and the entire set..
Prince was straight foreward, missing not a beat , chaning flow, brings you a montage of what is music, that delivered in every beat.. the magnifigance that he is as a musician , performer and artist, and the command to have a set, that was breathtaking in all it’s ways..
Thre may be a very long time before anyone can put on such a show..
He is the history of music rolled into one man..
and the world saw it live.

Impressive! We were very entertained! Prince Rocked!

Dear tbozzio,
Did you mean “SUIT” as in clothing? Because you wrote “suite” which is a big hotel room. Also, it’s “TEETERING” — no “h” in this word, as you wrote it “teethering” — which sounds like some form of advanced dental replacement process in young children. Why, why, why can’t people take the time to learn how to spell correctly? They make dictionaries to help with that, ya know!!!
Aside from the ghastly misuse of the English language here, I have to agree with everyone, that the half time performance ROCKED. Not that we expected anything less than mesmerizing from Prince!

I like several of Prince’s songs but there is much about his that I don’t like. All that aside – last night’s performance, WOW!!! Prince Rocked The Stage and A++ best halftime show ever in Superbowl history.

Just to clarify a couple of facts: The song title is “Sister” and he is not a born-again Christian he is a Jehovah Witness. His performance was amazing!

I thought we were rid of this little idiotic twirp years ago. How disappointing to see him rear his wormy little head again. I assure you that all of my friends burst out in hysterical laughter and really enjoyed the laugh. Hey prince, i hope that was your swan song. let it go lil’ buddy. Your day is over. Slide into retirement gracefully w/o an assenine comeback attempt please.

first … that was the best 1/2 time performance EVER. NO QUESTION.
The Rain, The Man in The Rain, The Energy … the GIANT PENIS GUITAR in SHADOW.
Very nice Prince.
That religous cult has not taken the fight for sensuality in our lives out of Prince yet.

The Giant Penis Shadow was brillant! Only Prince could pull that one off!!!!!!!

Thanks Prince for showing your genius to the masses. I’m sure your band was great but you stole the show. I wonder what it would have been like if it wasn’t pouring, but I think it was a blessing in disguise because you stepped up, and carried it all on you..
