News Bits: Mac Dre, James Brown & Female Rap Supergroup

by admin ·

On Jan. 9, school officials in Riverbank, California banned clothing featuring the name of Bay Area rapper Mac Dre because he “glorified drug use in his music.” Dre was shot to death in Kansas City back in 2004, but the highschoolers are supposedly still wearing teeshirts featuring his face. It might be they don’t know he’s dead as numerous albums bearing his name have been released since his death.

When he was alive you couldn’t keep him down, and now that he’s dead, no one seems to want to put him in the ground. The body of James Brown remains unburied amid legal complications revolving around his estate. As folks squabble over where the Godfather Of Soul will rest, and who gets his money (he had no will), his body lays in its casket, in a sealed room in his North Carolina home. Eerie… and sad.

Finally, a new Australian-based social networking site aimed at the “urban” audience recently launched. Moob.com decribes itself as a cross between MySpace and YouTube is geared toward the hip hop and R&B crowd and joins the swelling ranks of similar sites such as Crackspace.com.
