Jennifer Hudson Signs With J Records, Rumors Of Beyonce Feud Abound
Former American Idol contestant, and Dreamgirls sensation Jennifer Hudson has recently signed a deal with Clive Davis’ J Records.
The singer who is being hailed for her performance in the upcoming musical is already being prepped for an Oscar nomination for her role as Effie in the flick based on the legendary Broadway musical.
According to Access Hollywood, the singer who was panned by Idol’s Simon Cowell, will start recording her set in January.
“My album, I’ll be recording my album,” she said. “I just signed my record deal 2 weeks ago. So I’m starting on that in January.”
The J Records roster includes legends Aretha Franklin and Whitney Houston, as well as fellow former Idol finalist Carrie Underwood, Idol winners Fantasia and Ruben Studdard, and reigning American Idol Taylor Hicks.
In related news, the venerable Chicago Sun-Times has sourced Mediatakeout regarding an alleged feud brewing between Hudson and Beyonce’s family.
According to the source, Bey’s parents, Mathew and Tina Knowles, treated Hudson like dirt when it was apparent that she was getting more attention than their daughter. Claiming Mr. Knowles demanded the movie studio edit Hudson’s scenes so Beyonce can shine more, the blog also goes on to say the former Destiny’s Child’s singer cried when she saw Hudson’s character come off stronger than her own.

I’m sorry, but when I first heard that Beyonce was cast as Deena, I was a bit confused. Anyone who knows the storyline of Dreamgirls knows that Deena’s character always gets upstaged by Effie’s. It’s just inevitable. It didn’t matter who they cast in the role, the person playing that role will always outshine Deena’s. I thought it was a strange move from the minute I heard it. I mean why pick something as a ‘star vehicle’ in which you’re not really the star?

If Beyonce read the script, she would have known that her character was not the star. So it is too late to get mad about it now. I think the problem is probably more with her parents. They always want her to be the star, just like with Destiny’s Child.

m name is Ashleigh. I’m a huge fan of Beyonce’s. Other than my mom, she is my idol. I met her through a contest when i was 6 years old. I got a chance to experience a day with her. If you’ve ever met her you would kno how humble she was. She is really an amazing person.So for all you “haters” out there just let her be…it’s ok to always want to have the spot-light as long as you deserve it. That just shows that you really love what you do! I am very happy for Hudson….i love her I think she’s an amazing singer! I hope she does get an oscar for her amazing perormance! Jennifer Hudson is the real talent. BEyonce great but she is not even a Diana Ross. This isn’t bubble gum and hit it one more time, these are tried testedf hits that is being performed. Well the way that I see it is that you can’t always be on top all the time sometimes this is where you suppose to be at a certain point in your career,and its time for other to make their mark in this world the saying is be happy for other people because if you can do those things you can be blessed just by rejoicing with them in their happiness;both woman are very talented in their on way,but that doesn’t make anyone less successful,Beyonce’needs to do some soul searching if she has any issues about other people success, because she can lose everything for being jealious,but Jennifer needs to stay humble and just relax and take it all in and enjoy the ride. This is crazy. No matter what that girl does, people always have something to say. In all honesty people are really jealous of this girl. think about, why spend soooo much time talking about a person you can’t stand? Im confused about Beyonce saying “she felt that story was made for her”, she claims she was drawn to the story as soon as she heard about it. But you know what? Im not impressed. Let’s face it–Beyonce is a great looking girl,has a bangin’ body and her parents have brilliantly engineered an awesome career. We all should be so blessed. But you could take an average talent, put some money into her with dance and voice coaches, dress consultants and the like–hook uo with the right opportunites and many people could do what Beyonce’s has done. But that child, Jennifer Hudson is talent you must be born with–you cannnot learn what she has. Let’s face it–we are in a time where one of the biggest stars of all time is Brittany Spears–but Stephanie Mills, Jennifer Holiday etc never became as big as Beyonce or Brittany whose talents are unquestionably lesser. I even look at my girl Halle Berry–Really– is Halle really a greater actress than Angela Bassett or Lynne Whitfield — I’m sure most would say “No” — but Halle’s clearly got a better machine behind her and she has been marketed such that she it where she is. I would really be a shame of Beyonce was actually jeolous of Jennifer. If she’s smart she’d get the rights to produce Jennifer, get her to lose maybe 25 pounds and benefit from a talent that is indeed greater than hers.

I believe every bit of it because in a recent article “on the record” her father officially reported to a Chicago news.. that he felt as though his daughter was being discriminated against for the Golden Globe awards. He said that Beyonc’e should have been nominated. Now you tell me wait the that sound like? He is not really angry because of discrimination (Jeffifer Hudson’s nomination proves this to not be true) but because his daughter Beyonce was not the shining star bottom line!!

Beyonce is a positive role model to so many young ladies and that’s the positive image the “black woman” needs to continue. Beyonce is mult-talented as well as Jennifer Hudson who proved her point and is being blessed. Now who needed not to be in “Dream Girls” was Jaime Foxx. Although he did a great job in Ray, Terrance Howard, Mekhi Pfeiffer, Omar Epps or maybe even Tyrese could have did a better job. Both young ladies are beginning to act and until the media stops trying to get a “cat fight” we as African Americans need to thank God for allowing US to be recognized and stop tearing each other down. Heaven is where your reward really counts so continue to have the Oscars, can you count how many you’ll have on judgement day!

Both ladies did a great job. Jennifer’s role was prominent and she being a new comer gave her the bang. This is really good and I am happy for her. i dont believe the rumours. But I think Beyonce’s camp might now be saying ‘You should have taken effie’s role instead’. Since they have now seen the response to Jennifer. I dont think Beyonce is hating but I think she might be naturally jealous. I mean, who wouldn’t be jealous in a position like that. However, one does have to wonder, ‘is Beyonce a Big Star as we all thought, since a newcomer can just easily as that put her in the shadow.’ Some celebrities are fortunate enough to shine no matter what and I think Beyonce does not have that ‘thing’ yet, at least not in the movies. You guys just have to remember that the media gets paid by doing these things and this is an opportunity for a big bonus by selling false information.

I personally think that Jennifer deserves everything she’s been given and more. People are only speculating because Beyonce has been perceived as the best urban R&B singer for a while. Now someone comes along, who was told in the past that she “would never make it”, and takes the title from her. If Beyonce’s upset she didn’t win any awards, then she is a spoiled brat who should get over herself. If she’s happy for Hudson, then God will bless her for it. It’s that simple. Hudson has a strong, voice that pierces and can give you chills. Plus her range is emaculate. Beyonce does not have that. And probably never will. Because what Jennifer has, is something that you’re born with. She’s been singing in church all her life. Beyonce’s voice was somewhat trained. No doubt about it, she is a great entertainer. But for right now, Hudson is in the lead. And that’s just fine. Who ever said 2 stars can’t shine at one time?

Oh and as far as acting, Beyonce has yet to prove she can shine in that department. The real test of acting is to tek up a project that isn’t yourself. In EVERY movie Beyonce has done, she’s been a singer. Can she do anything else? In Pink Panther–singing. The Fighting Tempations–singing. I’m not even going to bring up Austin Powers, Goldmember. Oh my God… that was horrible. Anyway, the point is that Beyonce needs to challenge herself. You can’t get better, if your’e staying in one spot.
