Moving Memorial Program Documents Gerald Levert’s Legacy
For the millions of fans who will not be at the public tribute to Gerald Levert tomorrow in Cleveland, we’re sharing the program for the memorial service.
It opens with beautiful photos of Levert as a baby and later as the successful, big-hearted powerhouse we will always remember him as.
The beautiful full-color program also includes photos of Levert with family and at work in the studio and on stage, a list of his career accomplishments, a touching poem penned by his family, and tear-jerking words from his children, including his son Lemicah Edward Levert who said:
“I am no longer afraid of death because I now have someone waiting for me on the other side… my pops, my pal and my best friend.”

To the Family of Gerald Levert. Thank you for sharing Gerald with us (his fans). I’ve met Gerald & Sean personally in Las Vegas. Gerald was the same in person and in concert, he gave his all. God had a higher calling for him, we may have loved Gerald but God loved him more. I’m happy the family is so close. My heart is sadden by his passing but stay strong in the Lord and lean on each other for during this difficult time. Knowing that Mr. Levert recently made known to his mother, Martha, that he wanted to draw closer to God brings me great comfort that he will be remembered in the resurrection promised at John 5:28,29. Mr. Levert’s mother is one of Jehovah’s Witnesses as am I. We mourn, but look forward to meeting him back when all of the sorrows of this world will be past. Rev. 21:3,4

My heart had became heavy when my best friend called me and asked if I had heard that Gerald Levert had past away. We love Gerald, and did appreciate the way he was a decicated performer. Every time he would come to Houston, TX., we would go see him, it didn’t matter if it was in concert or in a play, we would be their to see him. We thank GOD for putting him here on this earth to entertain us, but now it time for him to go to a better place. My prayers are with his family.

next Saturday i will be 40 years old. i grew up on the ojays music. and when Gerald came out with his beautiful soulful voice it reminded me of the ojays day. but the one thing i think I’ll remember most about him was when he and his father would perform together. it seemed to me that not only his music but his smile was so electric and contagious. it just made me smile to see him smile. i know that i can’t say that Gerald and his father got along all the time, what family does, but every time i would seem them they made me feel so good to see the love they had for each other.
