Wonder, Stone, Gill To Perform For Public Gerald Levert Tribute

Posted by admin - Filed under: R&B/Soul, R&B/Soul articles - (Wednesday November 15, 2006 at 9:15 pm)

Stevie Wonder, Angie Stone and Johnny Gill are some of the performers scheduled to perform at the public tribute for the late R&B great Gerald Levert.

The Celebration of Life is set to take place at noon Friday, November 17 12 p.m., at the Cleveland Music Hall in the singer’s hometown of Ohio.

As previously reported, Levert passed away last Friday at the age of 40.

Also schedule to perform is Levert’s younger brother, Sean, who was a member of his older brother’s trio LeVert.

Open to the public, the ceremony will accept fans on a first-come, first-served basis.

A private funeral service will follow on an unannounced date and time.

A statement on Levert’s Web site reads, “We are deeply saddened by the sudden loss of Gerald Levert. The family asks that you keep Gerald in your prayers, hearts and minds. He will truly be missed.”

The family also requests that donations be made to the R&B Foundation.

Life was good to him and through that he made music good to us. May the family be comforted thru our prayers and theirs. We love you all Try and stay strong as he would want you too. His work was done here and god had other plans for the rest of his life and through his memory he can and will live on. Gerald had a purpose and he used it. He may not had been labeled and gospel singer but his words were just as comforting. God Bless

We are the same age my BD July 7 1966 and his July 13 1966. You never know when your time is up. Do what God has you to do and he will send you out peacefully. You are never to young to do his work.

Knowing that Mr. Levert recently made known to his mother, Martha, that he wanted to draw closer to God brings me great comfort that he will be remembered in the resurrection promised at John 5:28,29. Mr. Levert’s mother is one of Jehovah’s Witnesses as am I. We mourn, but look forward to meeting him back when all of the sorrows of this world will be past. Rev. 21:3,4

I wanna say how sorry i am that God took his angel back to heaven.I want to express my sincere apologies to his family and childrena nd just to let them know that he is only gone in body but still remains with in spirit. The best way to keep him alive in your hearts is to remember the good times that was shared together as a loving family. His baby-makin music will live forever in my heart and in the hearts of all his fans am sure. Take care of each other in this time of need and though it hurts think of him being in a better place.

Geralds flesh is gone to sleep, but his spirit will live on forever. Nothing is loss when you know where it is. Gerald is in the heavenly choir cuttin up with Luther, Marvin Gaye, and Berry White just to name a few. Gone but never forgotten.
    All my love,
    A fan you never knew.

I am deeply saddened by the sudden death of Gerald, I was shocked when I heard about it. I and I know the Levert family look forward to a time when we won’t have to suffer anymore pain, sickness, sorrow, or death (Rev. 21:3,4). We will be able to see our dear loved ones (Gerald) again, here on earth under better conditions. Isaiah 25:8,9 tells us that Death will be swallowed up forever and Jehovah will certainly wipe the tears from all faces. I hope these scriptures bring both the family and fans comfort.

    Hello,

I am deeply sadden about the major loss of Mr. Gerald Levert. I was already shocked over the singer Luther, and not quite over that now this. The only peace I can offer the family is that God has something better for Mr. Gerald to do. That which we do not know of. (I actually thought it was a joke when I heard it on the radio this past friday the 17th) I was in denial, and upset that the radio station would say something like that. Now the only thing I can offer his family and friends, and fans is my deepiest sympathy.
    Sincerely a fan LaTonya/Miami
