New And Upcoming Rap/R&B: Outkast, Rhymefest, John Legend, The Roots

by admin ·

IdlewildCheck out listings of new rap/hip-hop and R&B/soul releases for the month of August.

Some of our current faves include the uber-eclectic Idlewild from Outkast, Kelis‘ new joint and the debut from indie soulster Randevyn. There’s a bunch of new CDs on the horizon including stuff from Frankie J, Reuben Studdard (whose new “Change Me” sounds strangely like “Sorry 2004″), John Legend, whose “Save Room” sounds like nothing he’s released so far, The Roots‘ Game Theoryand new Lionel Richie, who by the way thinks most contemporary American music sucks, as well as some remastered classic stuff from Smokey Robinson, Prince and Luther Vandross.

Speaking of new classics, a lot of folks love Rhymefest‘s recent Blue Collar although it may seem that it hasn’t really been pushed too much on the marketing tip. Well, now the blue collar emcee gives all the haters the finger as he’s the official opening act for legendary, yet shaky A Tribe Called Quest. As previously reported, the tour jumps off in September.
