New Hip-hop and R&B/Soul Releases

by admin ·

Today’s new release day and what do we have on the list? Of course everyone’s talking about India.Arie‘s latest, mentioned below. Then there’s DJ Spinna doing his soulful thing with Intergalactic Soul and a set that’s starting a lot of controversy among Kool Keith fans. The album called The Return Of Dr. Octagon is rumored to be not authorized by Keith, which may very likely be true since fans on Byron Crawford’s blog provide all sorts of testimony to support this. Finally, iconic producer Large Professor returns with an instrumental set, reviewed by Vinyl Athletes.com. Check more June releases.

India Arie – Testimony: Vol. 1, Life & Relationship

by admin ·

India ArieThe eagerly-awaited new set drops tomorrow (Tuesday, June 27) amid a flurry of promotional events. Besides tonight’s appearance on Jay Leno, the singer’s also slated to hit the BET awards for a Chaka Khan tribute and “Live With Regis And Kelly” on Thursday. I was lucky enough to catch her (along with John Legend, Marcelo D2 and Herb Alpert) last night in Hollywood at Sergio Mendes’ 40th anniversary of Brasil 66… and what a cool show that was. Too bad another guest, that whacky Q-Tip, made an ass of himself by not showing up when Mendes introduced him at the end of the show. Anyway… check India’s latest single “There’s Hope” right here and visit our tour section for info on her upcoming tour. AUDIO: “There’s Hope” Windows | Real. Photo courtesy Universal Motown.
